A Guide For The New Parent
The most beautiful gift in the world is a child. Children are a miracle and should be cherished by their parents. We all try to be the best parents that we can be and seek advice from many different sources. There are several tips that have passed the test of time that can be helpful to new parents. It is important to relax and focus on the wondrous gift that you have been blessed with.
Many people will offer their advice, even if you did not ask for it. Everyone has their own opinions about parenting. Many men and women are taking parenting classes to become familiar with what they should expect from their children. This is very helpful to new parents and these classes are offered on a regular basis.
It can be a bit overwhelming when you are shopping for the new baby. There are some items that are absolutely necessary such as a good car seat and a crib. Many other items are optional such as changing tables and swings. There are products on the market that grow with your child and serve dual purposes. It is wise to consider purchasing convertible baby furniture because you will get more use from these items.
Many new parents decide to stockpile on diapers, wipes and other baby necessities. This is a good idea, but it is important to realize that your baby will grow quickly and it is a good idea to purchase various diaper sizes. It is also important to have all of baby's basic items at your fingertips so that you can access them quickly. Infant drops and other medicinal items should be stored in your medicine cabinet.
Baby proofing your home is a critical safety issue and this should be done immediately. Once your baby starts crawling and walking, you will be amazed at how fast they can get into things. It is best to be prepared for this time by baby proofing your home.
It is recommended to decorate the nursery in vibrant colors that will stimulate your baby. His senses are still developing and this type of visual stimulation is important. There are some great patterns available in toddler baby bedding and sometimes it may be difficult to choose only one. Decorating the nursery is a great bonding activity for new parents.
Parenting comes naturally to most and it is a good idea to be realistic about your own expectations. Educating yourself is very important and make sure to consider the fact that there is no such thing as perfect parenting. You will learn from mistakes and they are simply a part of life. Relax and enjoy your new child.
Can you cat proof cabinets?
One of my cats keeps attempting to open my bathroom cabinets in the middle of the night. I don't think she has been fully successful in opening them but it is really annoying to hear the door banging. First off, I don't want her to get in any cabinets period. Second, me and my sleep cycle would really appreciate it if that noise wouldn't happen anymore.
Does anyone have any ideas about how to stop this from happening? none of my cabinets and drawers have any sort of handles on them. I live in an apartment so I would really appreciate it your suggestions didn't cause major damage to the property and are easy to clean up when moving out.
They do make childproof locks for cabinets that don't require handles. They're called latches--the type you would use on a drawer. You can get a four-pack for $6 online ( http://www.kidsafeinc.com/product/6192/Spring-Loaded-Cabinet-and-Drawer-Latch-4-pack.html ) or you can probably find them even cheaper at Walmart!
If you don't want to spend the money, however, a simple solution is to close your bathroom door at night so she can't get in there at all. I have to keep mine closed at all times, because my cat Tobias likes to shred the toilet paper and throw his toys down the tub drain!
