Move Ahead With Treppenlift
Treppenlift popularly known as Stair lift, is a lift arrangement made to transport a person between different floor levels. The treppenlift is gaining increasing popularity as it offers a certain amount of independence and dignity to aged and disabled people.
A far cry from the first treppenlift designed, today's stair lift offers a whole lot of options designed to raise the comfort level of a user, such as seats with back rest, arm rests, foot stool etc. Additionally the modern treppenlift is fitted with built-in safety devices like the seat belt, foot rest sensors and seat -lock sensors to prevent untoward accidents. A 'perch' is used instead of a seat in standing stair lifts which are desired by people who have difficulty in a sitting arrangement.
Straight stair lifts can be purchased directly from any reliable manufacturer. But curved stair lifts owing to its unique style in different houses will need definite specifications and will have to be designed exclusively for a customer. 'L' shaped treppenlift(s) are again simple enough and will only need an additional rail to be extended beyond the first rail and can be bought directly from a dealer. It is advisable however to ensure that all stair lifts are fitted by professionals to ensure safety.
AC stair lifts and DC stair lifts are the two different models available. AC stair lifts run on normal electric power whereas the DC stair lifts refer to lifts powered by battery packages. Kosten(cost) and reliability of power supply are the two main determinants that dictates which treppenlift will be best suited to a house.
A stair lift may cost anything from $4000.00 upwards. A more advanced stair lift will however be in the range of $4000.00 upwards depending on the model and configuration sought. Curved stair lifts being custom designed will depend on the specifications and features used in the design. All electric lifts are cheaper than battery operated ones even without including the expenditure incurred for new batteries each year.
For the price conscious it will be a relief to know that many dealers usually offer to buy back used stair lifts when no longer in use. Such stair lifts are resold in the second user markets at cheaper rates. However this option works only for straight stair lifts as custom built ones will very rarely meet a buyer with identical requirements.

Has Anyone Had Both Knees Operated On (Arthroscopy), At Once???
I have meniscal tears in both knees (I had MRI's taken a year ago). At the time, I went through 4 months of Physical Therapy, and things were OK when I finished. I was good for 6 months. WELL, I did SOMETHING this past weekend, to cause them to BOTH swell terribly. On Monday, I ended up in the ER, because walking felt like I was dragging cement blocks around with me. They did some tests including a Doppler Ultrasound of my legs, which was fine. Now, I am on "bed rest" waiting for 2 MORE MRI's on Monday, and then (next week?) surgery on both knees. Has anyone dealt with having BOTH knees operated on, at once. Normally, this Arthroscopic Procedure is done on an outpatient basis ~ husband has had it done, twice, two different times, two different knees. BUT, I assume, having them both done at once, I will be admitted to the hospital, for a few days? Or will they send me home afterwards via wheelchair? Does anyone know? Thanks!
Perhaps, overnight, but anticipate on going home that day. You will be allowed to put weight on your legs, but will need crutches or a walker.
