Start Your Day Off Right With A Healthy Breakfast
Your mother probably told you all your life that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Well, Mom was absolutely right. Breakfast is kind of like gas for your car. Without it, your car won’t start or go anywhere. Without a healthy breakfast, your body and brain are not going to function properly, and you will find yourself sluggish, unable to concentrate, and maybe even a little bit moody or cranky, especially around mid-morning. Many people think that it is all right to skip breakfast because they can grab a snack later on, but when they do, the snack they choose is usually not a healthy one. Often, this snack is coffee and a donut, which provides little to no nutrition. It is a pretty easy thing to get a healthy breakfast, and it doesn’t really need to take a lot of time, either. For instance, you can pop a couple of slices of whole grain bread in the toaster and get dressed while it is toasting. Then spread some peanut butter or cream cheese on it for some protein, and you have a quick and healthy breakfast. Don’t forget to wash it down with a glass of low-fat milk or delicious juice. Or you can fill a baggie with your favorite dry cereal, fill a go-cup with some juice, and you have a healthy breakfast that you can eat while you are on your way to work. Why Kids Need to Eat Breakfast It is important for everyone to eat a healthy breakfast, but it is exceptionally important for kids to have something healthy to eat before leaving for school in the morning or at least something that they can eat while they are on the bus on the way to school. Without the proper nutrition in the morning, people tend to feel sluggish around mid-morning, and their levels of concentration are not where they should be. This can have very negative effects on young people, because they are unable to concentrate on their schoolwork, and therefore are not learning at the rate they should be. And when kids skip breakfast, they tend to have a higher BMI (body mass index) than most, which can lead to childhood obesity. Kids who do eat healthy breakfasts are more likely to participate in physical activities, such as school sports, and have much better nutrition in their diets. The problem with a lot of kids is that they are fussy eaters, and a lot of the healthy foods you may want them to have for breakfast, they will just turn their noses up at. What you need to do is find a happy medium, something that makes a healthy breakfast, but also something that your kids like. There are many things you can do to make sure that your kids get the nutrition they need to get their day off to the right start, and they do not have to be traditional breakfast foods either. You can give them many different kinds of sandwiches that have all of the nutrients your kids need. Peanut butter is always a popular choice, and for added nutrition, add some banana slices. Or how about a grilled cheese sandwich? It is loaded with calcium, protein, and vitamin D, and an excellent non-traditional breakfast food. Remember, make sandwiches on whole grain bread. If your kids refuse to eat brown bread, there are now white breads that have all of the nutritional value of whole grain bread. You can get creative and come up with all kinds of different, fun breakfasts that your kids will love to eat. When You Can’t Eat a Healthy Breakfast No matter how hard you try to make sure that you get the proper nutrition in the mornings, there are going to be times when you just don’t have enough time to prepare and eat breakfast, not even a bowl of cereal. When this happens, you have a number of options available to you for take-along breakfast treats that are healthy and delicious. Instead of grabbing a coffee and a donut on your way to work, substitute a healthy whole grain muffin or bagel for the donut. And why not order a glass of juice to go with it? You will be getting protein, carbohydrates, calcium, vitamin C, and a number of other nutrients, and it will only cost you around $2. Or, you can grab a container of yogurt from your fridge and take it along with you to eat at the office. If you want to eat it on your way to work, but can’t use a spoon while you are driving, you can stick a popsicle stick in the top of the yogurt package, and then freeze it. Enjoy your healthy yogurt pop while you are driving to work. Another thing that many people do when they don’t have time to eat breakfast, or any other meal for that matter, is to use dietary supplements, such as protein supplements. There are a number of options available when it comes to protein supplements, from powders to liquids to snacks and even capsules, which are great, but will not satisfy many food cravings. A lot of people who don’t have time to eat a healthy breakfast like to use liquid protein shots, because they are small and not overly filling, but provide them with the protein and other nutrients they need to get going in the morning, and keep up their energy throughout the day. One liquid protein shot that is very popular is Profect by Protica. This is a protein supplement that not only provides 25 grams of protein in every serving, but also has 100% of the daily recommended amount of vitamin C, and 50% of the B complex vitamins, not to mention many other nutrients. And if you happen to be on a low calorie diet to lose weight, this is an excellent product for you, because it only has 100 calories per serving. If you would like to learn more about Profect, or any of the other protein supplements by Protica, you can visit the website at www.protica.com.

Oh! I also have Christmas Cookie Cutters! (lol)
Homemade Fudge
Ingredients:
2 cups granulated sugar
water, to moisten sugar
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa(swiss miss)
3/4 cup butter
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups flour
Directions:
1.Mix together sugar, water, cocoa and butter and boil for 2
minutes.
2.Add vanilla and let cool for about 20 minutes.
3.Add flour and nuts.
4.Pour into a 9" x 9" pan lined with parchment paper/just greased with butter.
5.Chill a few hours and cut into one inch pieces.
Vanilla Icing
Ingredients:
2 cups confectioners' sugar, sift before measuring
1 1/2 tablespoons butter, soft
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 to 4 tablespoons milk
Preparation:
Combine all icing ingredients in small mixing bowl. Stir until smooth and well blended. Adjust for spreading consistency if necessary, adding more milk or more confectioners' sugar. Spread icing or drizzle on warm cookies.
CHOCOLATE CUPCAKES
1 1/2 c. flour
1 c. granulated sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
3 tbsp. unsweetened cocoa swiss miss
1 tsp. baking soda
6 tbsp. melted butter
1 tbsp. vinegar
1 tbsp. vanilla extract
Add dry ingredients together in a bowl. Make 3 holes with a spoon. In one hole add the 6 tablespoons of melted butter; in the other hole add the vinegar, and in the third hole add the vanilla. Put 1 cup of cold water on top. Mix until blended, very lightly with a spoon. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Makes about 8 cupcakes.
SUGAR COOKIES (NO EGGS)
2 cups butter
2 c. sugar
3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
Cream together butter and sugar. Sift dry ingredients together and mix into creamed mixture. Roll into small balls and place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Press slightly with a fork dipped in sugar. Maybe you can use the cookie cutters... Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes until lightly browned. After baking, let it cool for like 5 minutes then maybe you can make the vanilla icing then add some sprinkles to it....or you could just use the icing you already have ,...whatever works for you...
Hope I helped!
